One suggestion I would have, if you feed him anytime around when you yourself eat, make sure to feed him afterwards. The leader of the pack always eats first.

Yeah, I did not have the heart to tell them that Miniature Pinschers live in a state of terrible twos well into their senior years....Gotta love them terriers.

Haha! Taro used to be on a 24 hour a day rampage. He ate everything and anything he possibly could. Off leash at the dog park? Dont even think about it! But after a couple years they settled down. Now, when I say settle, I mean not the 24 hour a day rampage. Now its only about a 2-4 hour a day rampage. And ok off leash at the dog park and on trails. But I agree min pins will be high energy into their double digits.
I can partly attribute this 'calming' to us training ourselves to be good dog parents almost as much as we train our dogs... but now that we are on our 3rd I can tell almost when a light bulb goes off in their head and they become dogs instead of just psycho pseudo-tasmanian devils.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!
we have gotten through the not listening, unless there is really something interesting like a bunny, birdie or the like in the yard. we are not down to just a quick whistle and he is on his way, or at least finishing up what he has to do and then on his way.
Now Mister is listening to the hubby and life is getting so much better now that the boy is being his good little self.
little does he know that it is almost snip snip time for him.
now the questions is how do i keep him "quiet" for a week after? any ideas?

They are stubborn dogs. They are hard to train you have to keep on them and it still might not work. Mine will act up now and then and go thru a stretch of bad behavior. She's house broken and will tell us if she needs to go out,but then she'll go through a stretch where she'll hold out and wait until we are not looking or go to sleep and run off to the living room to do her potty there. That's when we have to start gating off the living room again. I thought I could put the baby gate away, but that's not happening lol.
If she's outside even with other dogs she still tends to wander off or will take off and will not listen when called. She can't be trusted that's that rule here lol.

Still dong pretty good with the listening, but now the neighbors got a Great Dane. I tell you when they are both outside it is definitely interesting
Going to try leaving mister out tonight, out being not in his create. i posted a questions about advice under questions but had no answer. keep your finders crossed. if this doesn't go well it will be back to the crate at night-night time for a WHILE, it took a lot of convincing to get hubby to let me try this
